AFAQ-ETA UPDATE
LIVENING UP
OUR QUALITY COURSES!
AFAQ-ETA is to
modernise its IRCA Approved ISO 9001:2000 Auditor/Lead Auditor course.
Accelerated learning methods will be introduced so that it is not simply a
mix of lectures and workshops. Research by IRCA has shown clearly that people
learn better when introduced to a variety of learning styles. Psychologists
have shown that people respond better to ‘doing’ than ‘being told’! The
course will be made more participative with activity based training being used
throughout the programme. This blended solution will be developed over the
next three months before submission to IRCA for approval.
The new course,
along with an updated IEMA Approved ISO 14001 Auditor/Lead Auditor course,
will be put on in Bangkok in May or June for AFAQ and Ascert Asian offices
wishing to enter into license agreements with us. We are pleased to announce
that we will pay for the course venue, trainer and trainer travel costs.
Delegates’ travel, accommodation and meals will have to be met by the
licensees.
Existing Asian
licensees will also be invited to the ISO 9000 Lead Auditor course so that the
new learning style can be understood.
A new OHSAS
18000 Auditor course will be developed during 2005. It will build on a course
produced by EAQA/BestCERT in Taiwan by Dr August Tsai. It will also follow
the blended learning style with a view to eventual submission to IRCA for
accreditation.
Finally we will
also be offering overseas offices the opportunity to license a range of short
courses covering the international standards.
WHAT TO DO
NEXT?
Asian Companies
wishing to license our courses including the new ISO 9000 programme and
wishing to send delegates on the free 2005 Thailand course for trainers should
contact Bill Fenton at bill.fenton@afaq-eta.com
For licensees in
Europe and South America we will be offering the choice between attending a UK
course on the new leaning style or one in the host country.
STAFFING
Alister
Dalrymple has been appointed as the new Managing Director of AFAQ-EAQA Ltd.
Alister replaces Trevor Wilmer who will now concentrate on special projects
on a part-time basis. Alister will also continue with his role as
International Director for the AFAQ Group based in Paris.
A NEW HUB
OFFICE FOR ASIA
AFAQ and AFAQ-EAQA
have recently restructured their operations in Asia. An Asian Hub has been
established, based in Taiwan. Although our presence in the region is already
well-established, the aim of the Hub is to take things one step further and
streamline our processes. The office in Taiwan will act as the lynchpin for
the entire region, servicing our offices in China, Thailand, Indonesia,
Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Vietnam and South Korea. The main functions of the
Hub will be certification decisions and network operations.
It is recognised
that the needs of the Asian markets can differ significantly from Western
requirements. Resources and marketing functions will, therefore, be
coordinated for an approach that is both more integrated, but which also
serves the market conditions of local offices. Looking towards the future, we
will also be developing new products and training programmes to meet our
customers’ requirements.
